In the start of their book “Uprising,” which came out in 2020, the pair wrote that they faced bad words throughout the 2016 campaign from people who called them “traitors” and worse names as they spoke for Trump. They said they did not plan to be in the spotlight.

“We were just living our lives as usual, then we were pushed into this political place all because we wanted to say what we thought,” they wrote.

Born in the Tar Heel state, the two got a lot of fans on YouTube and used their Internet fame to get on many TV shows and regular jobs at Fox News.

They first became nationally famous during the Trump presidential campaign in 2016 and soon became his favorite.

Regular shows on Fox News followed and then a show of their own on paid channel Fox Nation.

But Fox News cut ties with them after they made people angry by saying wrong things about coronavirus.

 

Hardaway and her sister Rochelle Richardson became famous in 2016 for their political talk videos. Both old Democrats, they changed sides to support Trump’s presidency, getting the attention of Trump and other important Republicans.

Trump went with the two, asked them to his 2017 inauguration, and even had the sisters in the Oval office.

Diamond and Silk were later given jobs by the Fox News online site, Fox Nation, but were later fired from the network in 2020 after saying wrong things about Covid-19 on air, said NPR.

When the pandemic started, the sisters wrongly said that more people died in the US to make Trump look bad, along with other wrong things about the pandemic and vaccines.

After losing their jobs at Fox News, Diamond and Silk had their own show on the rightwing network Newsmax, and wrote a 2020 book about their childhood, family history and link to Trump.

The reason of Hardaway’s death has not been said. She was in the hospital in November, with the sisters asking fans to pray. There were talks that she had Covid but they were not proved, and the reason for her being in the hospital was not said. On her Newsmax show in December, Hardaway said that she never had Covid, calling the talk “fake news”.

“The World just said goodbye to a Real Angel and Fighter for Freedom, Love, and People! Please be kind to Diamond’s family!” the Twitter account for the two said Monday night.

 

The tweet did not say why she died.

The two of them were on Fox News’s online service, Fox Nation. But the network stopped working with them in 2020 after they said the official COVID-19 death numbers were wrong. Trump said he supported them in a tweet after they left the network. He said he loved them and so did “millions of people!”
